Working at the D.C. Public Charter School Board
The D.C. Public Charter School Board (PCSB) operates as an independent agency within the District of Columbia Government. Board members are unpaid volunteers, and are supported by a professional staff that has remained relatively lean and efficient, with a collegial, fairly flat hierarchy. Though PCSB employees are not classified as D.C. Government employees, they comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to procurement, ethics, employment, and the Freedom of Information Act, among others.
The PCSB offices are located in the historic Tivoli Square, one block north of the Columbia Heights Metro station. The building is situated in the midst of a recent neighborhood revitalization, where mixed-used development has brought high-rise condos and apartments, popular retail stores, restaurants, theater and dance studios, coffee shops and gourmet grocery stores, in addition to Columbia Heights’ long-standing community organizations and historic rowhouses.
